Saini in Punjab: BJP will form govt in February 2027, AAP failed on drugs and jobs

BALACHAUR (SBS Nagar). Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini took the BJP’s 2027 campaign into Punjab’s Doaba region on Saturday. At a youth rally, he said the party would form the state government in February 2027, and he accused the AAP government of failing on its two biggest promises: ending drugs and giving jobs to 25 lakh young people.

“The people of Punjab now believe that a government will be formed under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in February 2027,” Saini said at Bagowal village in the Balachaur assembly segment of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district.

Local leader Ravi Inder Singh Balachaur joined the BJP with his supporters at the rally. Saini welcomed them and promised them “full respect and recognition” in the party. He said their move would strengthen the growing hope people in Punjab had in the BJP, and asked workers to turn that hope into service and earn public trust through it.

‘AAP more corrupt than Congress’

Saini blamed both AAP and the Congress for drugs and corruption in Punjab. He said the state was going through a hard phase, with drugs destroying families and holding back development.

The Congress had promised to wipe out drugs but failed, he said, and voters threw it out. AAP made the same promise, set a deadline for it, and also promised 25 lakh jobs. Saini said it delivered on neither.

“AAP has run the government for five years on false promises and misleading claims. It has proved more corrupt than the Congress,” he said. He alleged that people who spoke out against drug sales in their areas were being booked by the police.

Playground in every village

Saini said the BJP’s anti-drug yatra in Punjab had won strong public support. He praised the party’s drive to get rural youth into sports and repair village stadiums, and said it would give every village a playground.

“Sports build patriotism and leadership, and keep young people away from drugs,” he said. He asked the crowd to take a pledge to stay drug-free.

He spoke of a “Rangla Punjab”, a phrase the Mann government often uses. In his version, every child would have a playground, every young person a chance to move ahead, every family support against drugs, and every hardworking person due respect.

Haryana model on offer

Saini used Haryana’s record to pitch the BJP to Punjab voters. He said development works worth crores had reached every village in Haryana. He said farmers there had received ₹16,500 crore in crop-loss compensation over 12 years, and women were getting ₹2,100 a month under the Lado Lakshmi scheme.

A “double-engine” government in Punjab would work at twice the pace and ensure dignity for every person, he said.

On the ‘dunki’ route

Saini also spoke about illegal migration, a sensitive issue in Doaba, where many families have members abroad.

“There is nothing wrong in dreaming of going abroad. But no young person should be forced by circumstances to leave home or take the dunki route,” he said.

He said good colleges, skill centres, industry, modern farming and strong small businesses would let young people build their future in their own villages and towns.

‘Never lower your aim’

Saini told the young crowd to aim high and work towards their goals every day. He asked them to look after their physical and mental health, stay away from drugs and despair, and join friends in community work for their villages.

He also paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary, observed as National Unity Day. He credited Patel with bringing nearly 560 princely states together to unite India.
